Hi Reader,
Several exciting things have come to fruition in the first weeks of September, just in time for fall (though here in Phoenix it's still 108 degrees!).
After nearly a year of work, I completed an ambitious sculpture project:
This piece has a lot of personal meaning for me. The 20-pointed stars on the 12 faces represent 2012, the year I first started intensely studying the Islamic design tradition. The 20 21-pointed stars at the corners represent this year, ten years later. If you're interested in the full story, read my blog post about the entire project from initial inspiration, through the many ups and downs of the creation process, to the finished sculpture.
I submitted that piece along with two existing sculptures to a local gallery show and all three were juried in. If you're in the Phoenix area, please stop by the Sonoran Arts League's Center for the Arts in Cave Creek, AZ to see the "Off the Wall: 3D Art Exhibition".
NOTE: Any of the pieces which do not sell at the gallery will be available on my web site in early October, and as a member of the Insider's Club I'll let you know before the general public.
Our dog Lula (featured in last's month's newsletter) goes to a wonderful doggie daycare called Dogtopia of South Chandler. They are an awesome local business, so I was thrilled when the owners Michael and Susan approached me about buying a print as a 2-year business anniversary gift for their general manager. She loved the print, and I loved being able to help celebrate a local business in this way.
As I mentioned last time, I have a whole slew of new patterns and color schemes in mind for my Infinity Blooms and Starburst series. I've been hard at work on these and will announce their release to you as soon as they're ready.
That's it for now! Stay safe and enjoy the fall.
Cheers, Phil

Hi Reader, This month I'm excited to announce the expansion of my online shop to include two new categories of work. As a member of the Insider's Club, I'm letting you know about these new offerings 48 hours before I announce them to the world at large. Hand Drawn Originals After many years of working almost purely digitally, I've recently had the craving to go back to my roots and get more "hands on" in the creation of some of my work. These works will be less frequent as they can take quite...
Hi Reader, It's been a while since you've heard from me. This summer has been busy on a personal level -- mostly due to our new puppy (see Proud Poodle Puppy Poppa™ photo below!). However, it's been a very quiet and introspective time artistically speaking. Now I'm ramping back up as we head toward fall and it feels "good to be back". 😀 Tallulah ("Lula") posing with Infinity Bloom 10 - Forest Green/Yellow A lot of new creative ideas have been germinating, so you can look forward to several...
